There were no movement in the western side. The strategic position is tight. Kaisung units are bounded to the defense of Nanking blocking Shanghai units. Units in Hopeh has little space to operate without abandon the last city they could control. The rolls from the delay box for the IJN were not good, and they are out of the scenario with 6 months delay. But there is a support air force unit that comes in Turn 2 to the force pool.

During movement phase, a Japanese Army crosses the river and takes positions on east of the Taiyuan city. From the north, another Japanese Army converges to Taiyuan.  From Tientsin, now operates a Japanese Air Force wing which start bombing Taiyuan defenses. The total attack ratio is 9-4 with the HQ as support, plus two right shifts (Air Force + HQ) and one left shift due to city defense. The die roll is 3 which leads to Ex  result. One Japanese army is reduced one step and the defenders chose to reduce one step too and keep the position in Taiyuan.
